What Scheduled Tasks are

A good task has more than a time: it has a source, a change criterion and a useful output.

Scheduled Tasks lets ChatGPT do something once, recur on a schedule, or act as a monitor. Monitors remember previous runs, report only meaningful changes and can stop after a final condition is met.

Tasks are managed from the Scheduled page and can use connected apps when your account, permissions and administrator allow it. They suit recurring checks; they are not a webhook automation system.

Types: One-off, recurring and change monitoring
Frequency: No more than one run per hour
Memory: Monitors compare against prior runs
Management: Scheduled page to edit, pause, resume or delete

Schedule a reliable task

Write the instruction as a small operational specification.

Open Scheduled in ChatGPT and create a task, or schedule a compatible instruction from a conversation.
Set the time zone, start time and frequency; never request a cadence above once per hour.
Name the permitted sources, review window and what counts as a meaningful change.
Define the output, notification behavior and when the task should stay silent or stop.
Review the first run, tune false positives and periodically check permissions, paused tasks and active limits.

Compare the information with the previous run and look for changes in price, availability or terms.

Notify me only when one of those three elements changes. Send nothing when there is no change.

Include what changed, old value, new value, check time and a direct source link.

Do not sign in, complete purchases or use sources outside the approved list.

Stop the monitor when the product is available below the defined threshold or when I cancel it.

Control permissions and noise

An unattended task needs less authority, tighter instructions and a clear stopping rule.

Connect only necessary apps and review what their permissions allow.
Define exact sources and require links or evidence for every alert.
Include a silence condition to prevent notifications without material change.
Do not delegate irreversible decisions, payments, sends or sensitive changes without explicit confirmation.
Review the Scheduled page for paused, duplicate or obsolete tasks.
Cancel or narrow the task when the project ends, a source changes or the need disappears.

Deleting the associated chat pauses the task. App availability and allowed actions depend on your account, permissions and workspace policies.
